You know, it's the right thing to do

"You know, we'd love to have you closer to the bar," Sal started and Jody wasn't sure where this conversation was going. Of course, she and Aaron were both behind the bar. She was cleaning up and he was serving up beer to customers. It was a regular Thursday night. Folks were enjoying some game on one of the TVs. It was just noise to Jody, but she could hear Sal clearly. He wanted them both out of Andrew's place.

"But, he might you know, get upset," she winced.

"You know, he's going to get upset, no way around it," Sal smiled. "I talked to them at the apartment complex, they have a one-bedroom available. It isn't that close to your mother's." But he understood she didn't want it close. "Your mom and I had a very long talk. She promises not to bother either of you."

Now Jody was laughing. How was that possible? Her mother loved to butt in, no matter what. Jody shook her head.

"You know, you need us. And winter's coming," Sal put a hand on each shoulder. "We can make this work. I know it won't be what you're used to, but we're family."

He made her feel a bit misty-eyed when he put it that way. "I need both of you, you know." His smile was open.

"But..but couldn't it be two bedrooms?" She winced. Aaron really liked his space for his writing.

"It'll be fine," he told Sal then. "I sleep on the couch anyway."

She felt a little sad about that. A bartender who was a writer needed their rest. How could he suffice?

"You can move in, at the end of the month," that was Sal's plan. She knew she couldn't change it, but it was like asking her to go in for major surgery. She just wasn't sure how she could recover. But she knew she had to leave everything that was Andrew's behind. The problem was. Everything was his. They didn't have a bed or a couch to sleep on.

  2. Sounds like it's a tough call for her. Sal seems tohave it all figured out though. I hope this goes well...

  4. I love the idea of Jody and Aaron moving in together! And leaving Andrew behind! I also like the recurring theme of the bed issue -- although I admit that a nonexistent bed is a much bigger problem than one that's merely too small (flashbacks to Caitlin and Deano 🤣). Maybe Sal will have a solution to that also.
