Cara didn't understand. What was Jody talking about? Actually, she thought that little sister of her's was already married, but since their parents divorce well, she felt out of the loop with a lot things.
"Meet me after work," she'd said about the matter. They needed to meet face to face. After all, there was a time they shared most everything, even the same room. It felt like a faded memory now, but she knew it was time to get back with her family even if they weren't her real family. Yes, after she and Ral decided to call it quits she'd dived in hard at the marketing place she worked. She'd taken on more accounts, and overtime. She didn't really know what was going on with anyone these days.
"OH MY GAWD," Jody said it first. "You've changed," Jody said Cara had lost weight and she'd changed her hair. "I don't even know you."
"Well, Lil Jo you haven't changed a bit," she smiled. She ordered them beers. Of course, Jody always had to pull out her ID while Cara was such a regular here, no one asked her age anymore.
"I'm thinking of leaving Andrew," Jody was serious now as she pulled a strand of hair behind her ear.
"Why?" Cara asked after she put the pizza order in.
"Oh, well..he's just dragging with the wedding, you know." Jody shrugged as if that was enough to leave him. Cara only nodded. She understood.
"Of course, the Pandemic hasn't helped any," Cara knew it was hard to make an arrangement for even a small wedding these days.
"I don't know what he's expecting," Jody smiled as she took a sip of dark beer. "I'm not exactly royalty."
"Yeah, I know. We're just two misfits," Cara sighed. She took a drink of beer, thinking she should be throwing up already, but she would do that after she got home.
"Do you need a roommate?" Jody asked.
"What?" Cara winced. How could she explain this to Jody? She liked living alone. Because occasionally she might find someone to have sex with. She really didn't want to fall in love. "Don't give up on Andrew. I know you've been crazy about him forever. You just need to talk it out."
She drank her beer. Jody finished her's off to. They were ready for another when the pizza came.

I love living alone like the
Deletegirls who just want to have fun! ❤❤❤ You do learn a lot from living alone and after all..your independence, too. Some figure this out better than others.
Living alone improves one's sixth sense!
ReplyDeleteOh, I like that!
DeleteHmm..I do wonder what kind of trouble these two could get up too.
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought that Cara was really understanding, just the confidante Jody needed. I especially like the part when she tells Jody that they're just two misfits. But then it seemed like she was trying to convince Jody to stay with Andrew just so she (Cara) wouldn't have to give up living alone. Then again, I don't know Cara well enough yet to know how she ticks. I'm interested to find out more. Cute cardi in the collage! :)
ReplyDeleteOh no, I wouldn't be able to live with my sister even if I love them very much. It is unnecessary when living together, and that's peace and quiet!
ReplyDeletesome people don't want to live with others...
