no telling what might happen

"Well, Jay's not coming but Amanda said she'd bring her green bean casserole," Sal informed Jared who was making a list of last-minute items Sal would pick up at the grocery store.

"Andrew will not be coming either," Jared sparked a smile. He wasn't looking forward to making conversation with him anyway. "Just looks like it's us and the girls." No way was his brother Jamie and his man making a special appearance. They were certainly homebodies.

Oh, it had been a whirlwind these last few weeks at the Senior Center. It was amazing they were open. Somehow, Jared got the title of entertainment director and he was awful busy with all sorts of activities that might happen in the future, but just the step class was the only thing that was happening lately.

He yawned wondering how early he'd have to get up to start this feast. He looked over at the room that was off-limits. Jared had a good mind to sleep there tonight. The futon was miserable. Why couldn't he sleep in that room?

"You don't think your daughter will come for Thanksgiving, do you?" Jared asked, hoping he wasn't too curious.

"Angel?" Sal shot him a look.

Jared almost cracked up. He still didn't know if that was a pet name or her real name. Jared nodded.

"I wish, but she hasn't called me lately." Naturally, Sal took a look on his phone for a missed phone call or text.

Soon Sal took the list and was off to the grocery store. Jared looked around to see if there was anything to clean. There wasn't. He sighed with relief and went to Sal's big fat computer. It was old school and not password protected.

Jared smiled more. He missed his own old computer he used to play games on as a kid, but it was long gone now. Actually, he couldn't remember the last time he went on the internet.

As luck would have it, he went right to the site that Sal left. Jared smirked thinking he'd find out what Sal was really up too, maybe tropical babes with nothing on. But it wasn't that. It wasn't even food.

Just a novel. A big ass novel in fact.

Jared stared at the words. He leaned back in the computer chair and pulled his fingers back through his hair.  Then made himself comfortable. Hell, it wasn't even porn, he thought. Better.

Jared kept reading as he bit a grin. It was one bromance after another. Jared lightly chuckled. He wished he had friends like that.
