"So, I could come over?" Rex sneaked up behind Maria who was reaching for a carton of eggs. She turned and smiled at him.
"If you have nothing better to do." She smiled.
"Well, you know I don't." They texted each other a lot. He still hadn't mentioned it to Nick nor Heath. Of course, he hadn't helped her with the move, either. He liked her place even if it were old and just one room with a bathroom. There was space for a kitchen in the corner and a big bay window that lit the place up, day or night.
"Then I'll make you dinner." She shrugged.
"I'd like that." Rex bit a smile. Yes, this was more than being smitten. He wished he could tell her everything. He'd left out Kelsey and the baby. Baby Owen which he saw about once a week. Usually, Jack was there. Kelsey's mother too. It was just for an hour or so. He'd hold the baby, or watch him sleep. Rex still wasn't sure he was ready for the day when Kelsey said he could have him for the weekend. He wasn't sure he could manage Owen for 4 hours, but with Maria around...it could be possible. But he didn't want to need her for such an occasion.
It was quite simple, he just needed to get away from everything. She was just that. Getting away from everything, or was that..just getting away with it.
Rex sighed. "We'll, I'll see you as soon as I get off, OK?"
"OK." Her smile was so genuine, and he definitely didn't want to wreck this with her.
