"Ready to throw in the towel yet?" Nick looked Jack over when he stopped in for lunch with his Dad at the library.
"What? I look that bad." Jack squinted.
"Just a little?" Nick shrugged. "Look, we want to do something. I called some of her friends and we want to throw a party. But I just don't know where. Your place?"
"Huh," Jack closed his eyes. Nick thought he might take a nap right then. "You don't have too. Nobody possibly thinks this is going work, anyway." He sighed.
"What do you mean?" Nick squinted.
"Never mind." Jack shook his head.
"You know I used to date Kelsey." Nick told him.
Jack just smiled. Finally a slight nod.
"Just remember, Rome wasn't built in a day." Nick gave him a sly smile, but he still wondered if there was any real romance there. What was really going on with Kelsey and Jack? "Look, we want to be there for guys. Just call us. Put Rex on diaper duty, if nothing else."
"You better talk to Kelsey about that." He yawned big then as if he might go to his truck for a nap or maybe a quiet place where the magazines were.
